To give you an idea of how all marketing aspects should work together, I took my personal site as a case study. While this is just a hobby / side project I started about 2 years ago, it shows how important setting goals are and having every marketing activity work towards those goals.
Without planning and knowing where you want to go, you can’t make your marketing activities work for you like you need them to.
We take a look at the monthly activities that go into marketing a site: blog posts, press releases, social media, e-mail marketing, testimonials, and events. This also shows what a typical monthly report looks like, the detail it goes into, and how to make future marketing and advertising decisions based on that information.
The most important thing to note is the relationships that each of the activities build. Getting people to read your information, come to your site and continue to come back takes work and time. Setting up relationships in the media takes even more time and finesse. Working on all of these things constantly, consistently, and focused is key to success in all of these areas.
